If I could tell every woman in the world one thing, it would be this: you are beautiful. No matter how little time you have to spend pampering yourself or how convinced you are that you could never look as good as the ladies in our Toronto boudoir photography, I can tell you from experience that there is a glamorous woman inside each and every one of us, just waiting to be unleashed.
That’s why these five ladies from my recent portrait sessions volunteered their before and after shots. They, like I, think it’s important that every woman who has dismissed the idea of boudoir because they just don’t think they are pretty enough gets the chance to see for themselves that actually, we’re all pretty darned gorgeous. Boudoir photography is simply a matter of enhancing our natural beauty for the camera.
Boudoir photography is not just about the portraits that a client takes home in her album. It’s not just a chance to create a tantalizing gift for a significant other (although a couple of these lovelies had been wanting to do exactly that for quite a while). It’s about the experience of being pampered and appreciated and of seeing yourself through the eyes of another – and, just like these ladies, you might be surprised at how fabulous the view.
I think, if you asked them, that all five would tell you they were nervous about the experience before arriving at the studio. One was the mother of a young baby and feeling a little self-conscious about not being back to her pre-baby shape. Another wasn’t all that keen on her body shape and felt shy about baring any skin. But as each one of them relaxed into the experience, they came to understand that those flaws that scream out to them when they look in the mirror are certainly not what the camera is seeing.
As part of the Toronto boudoir photography experience, we have partnered with a salon just around the corner from the studio that is renowned for its stunning hair and make-up. Our ladies spent a little time there before the photoshoot and, when they arrived for their sessions, looked amazing.
It wasn’t because they had become a different person, nor because we had covered up any flaws and imperfections. It was simply because the stylist had enhanced each one’s natural loveliness, both through artistry and the sheer pleasure of being pampered and cared for. This helped our ladies see their own beauty in all its glory – and it’s no wonder that this experience gave each of them that certain glow. All that remained for me to do was prove to them that, yes, they are beautiful through and through.
Looking at the finished portraits, I think it’s hard to argue that each of these ladies is flawlessly gorgeous. Just like the rest of us, these are “ordinary women,” but I think it’s time to re-evaluate what those words actually mean. Because as far as I’m concerned, having seen so many women find their confidence through the honest gaze of the camera, I think it’s time we accept that “ordinary” actually means “beautiful”.
We would love to welcome you to the studio for your own boudoir experience, so that you can see for yourself how gorgeous you really are. To find out more or to make a booking, why not contact us now!
